Media advisory - Mercier Bridge repair - Closure of a southbound lane continues on August 19 and 20, 2008

LONGUEUIL, QC, Aug. 18 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain
Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) and the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ)
will continue to close a southbound lane on the Honoré-Mercier Bridge on
Tuesday and Wednesday, August 19 and 20, outside of rush hour periods, from
3 am until noon. This closure will allow the contractor, the Mohawk Bridge
Consortium (MBC), to continue repairing 13 connection plates.
In all, nearly fifty plates will be replaced by the MBC during this first
phase, including the 13 plates mentioned above. Further closures will be
needed to complete the replacement of all plates. These connection plates link
the steel girders under the bridge and their replacement will strengthen its
structure. This work will be done under the bridge structure and will not be
apparent to users.
