Media Advisory - Mercier Bridge Rehabilitation - Timely lane closures scheduled for July 2nd are delayed

LONGUEUIL, QC, July 1 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain
Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI), in conjunction with the Ministère des Transports
du Québec (MTQ), have delayed the timely closures of a southbound lane
scheduled to start July 2nd. The planned repair of connection plates will not
start tomorrow and all lanes on the Mercier bridge will be open. Timely
closures until August 18th 2008 are still planned for the moment and the
official date will be determined soon and communicated accordingly.
The contractor, the Mohawk Bridge Consortium (MBC), will proceed with the
replacement of 51 connection plates during the summer period, when traffic is
at its lowest point. In order to limit the impact on users, one lane per
direction will be closed to traffic outside rush hours.
