Every five seconds, someone in our world goes blind...and a child goes
blind every minute.
Childhood blindness in children is a major public health concern. Almost
50 percent of the world's 1.4 million children who are living without sight
are needlessly blind, from avoidable causes.
Early intervention is key to ensuring that children with eye problems
have the best possible outcomes in the developing World and Canada.

    SPEAKERS:

Dr. Ralf Buhrmann, Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University
of Ottawa Eye Institute. Vision impairment may be a significantly greater
public health problem than it appears, according to new research. Vision loss
is rapidly increasing in Canada

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Dr. David Yorston spent 10 years working at the Kikuyu
Eye Unit, Nairobi (the largest eye unit in Africa). While there, he tripled
the number of operations and introduced new techniques and treatments.

    - Question and answer session
    - Interviews available
