Media advisory - Media Are Invited to Canadian Leaders' Mission: China 2008, November 2 to 7, 2008



    OTTAWA, Sept. 24 /CNW Telbec/ - The Council of the Federation, together
with the Canada China Business Council (CCBC) will lead a joint mission to
China from November 2 to 7, 2008.
    The Premiers of Québec, Ontario, New Brunswick, Manitoba and Prince
Edward Island, along with Canadian business leaders, will participate in
events in Beijing, Chongqing and Shanghai where senior Chinese government
leaders and business leaders are expected to join them. Business delegations
will be drawn from the following sectors: agri-food, education, environment,
and transportation equipment and services.
    Mission events will reflect the growing trade relationship between Canada
and China, and will explore business and market opportunities between the two
countries.

    
    The preliminary program is:

    November 2   Arrival in Beijing. Events begin in the evening.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    November 3   Events in Beijing continue. Gala banquet in the evening.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    November 4   Individual Provincial events in Beijing. Travel to Chongqing
                 in the late afternoon.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    November 5   Events in Chongqing. Banquet dinner in the evening.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    November 6   Travel to Shanghai in the early morning. Events in Shanghai.
                 Banquet dinner in the evening.

    November 7   Individual Provincial Events in Shanghai. Mission concludes.

    Media representatives are invited to cover the Canadian Leaders' Mission:
China 2008 and can attend all open events including plenary sessions, photo
ops, news conferences, etc. Media are responsible for their own individual
costs, including international travel, accommodation, meals, etc. Domestic
flights between the three cities can be arranged for a cost of $500 CDN.
