    CEO will challenge Canadian business to join international initiative

    VANCOUVER, April 3 /CNW/ - Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC), a Canadian
leader in sustainability practices, will make a significant national
announcement and call on the Canadian business community to join the company
in a new commitment to the environment.
    MEC CEO Peter Robinson will announce a substantial increase to its own
environmental commitment, and introduce two partners working to build
collaboration between business and environmental organizations in Canada.
    Robinson will also discuss the urgent need for Canada's business sector
to take a leadership role in protecting the environment, and the links between
economic and environmental sustainability.
    This announcement will result in a significant increase in financial
support for environmental causes in Canada.
