Media Advisory - Mayors of Canada's Largest Cities Meet in Ottawa January 15

OTTAWA, Jan. 15 /CNW Telbec/ - The Big City Mayors' Caucus (BCMC) of the
Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) will meet on Thursday, January 15
in Ottawa to discuss ongoing economic challenges and opportunities leading
into the First Ministers' Meeting, Speech from the Throne and Federal Budget.
The BCMC, comprised of the mayors of Canada's 22 largest cities, will be
meeting earlier in the day in the Canadian Room (Lower Level) of the Fairmont
Château Laurier Hotel. This meeting will be opened briefly to cameras (no
sound) at 9:00 a.m. EST, after which BCMC meetings will resume (in-camera).
The BCMC will then report to the media about their deliberations at a
news conference scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (all times Eastern) in the Quebec
Suite (1st Floor) of the Fairmont Château Laurier Hotel.
Of particular interest to the media are the specific opportunities
surrounding job creation and shovel-ready infrastructure projects - housing
and public transit, among others. This follows FCM's release of a report
detailing shovel-ready municipal infrastructure projects earlier this week
(Wednesday, January 14).
Media across the country are invited to listen to the news conference by
conference call.
An updated list of shovel-ready infrastructure projects can be found on
www.fcm.ca.
