Media Advisory - Mary Gordon, President/Founder, Seeds of Empathy and Minister Reid to attend demonstration of unique children's program with parent and baby

    VANCOUVER, Oct. 31 /CNW/ -

WHO The Honourable Minister Linda Reid, Minister of State for Child
Care, and Lyle Viereck, Director, Aboriginal Relations &
Negotiations, BC Hydro will join Mary Gordon, Founder, Seeds of
Empathy (SOE) in a Family Visit demonstration of this unique
           children's program.

WHAT Media are invited to the launch of the first Aboriginal SOE
training and overall expansion of the program in British Columbia.
The program brings a parent and baby from the community into the
child care centre to foster social and emotional literacy and
empathy among three-to-five-year-old children. The program also
promotes early literacy skills and attitudes in children while
providing professional development for their Early Childhood
           Educators.

The Ministry of Children and Family Development is supporting the
first Aboriginal training for SOE along with our new partner, BC
Hydro. Both are committed to supporting Aboriginal children and
           communities throughout the province.

Seeds of Empathy's mission is to build caring, peaceful, and civil
societies through the development of empathy in children and
adults. The program seeks to change the world, child by child - a
unique program where the baby is the "teacher".
