Media Advisory - Lieutenant Governor Thanks Ontarians for Thousands of New Books



    TORONTO, Jan. 29 /CNW/ - On Wednesday 30 January, the Hon. David C. Onley
will hold a press conference at Queen's Park to accept thousands of new books
donated by the Toronto Professional Firefighters Association, DK Publishing,
and the constituents of The Hon. Deb Matthews, MPP London North Centre.
    The book drive will end on 31 January, no more donations will be
accepted.
    At his installation, the Lieutenant Governor announced that he would
continue to support the Aboriginal Literacy initiatives begun by his
predecessor, The Honourable James K. Bartleman. On 2 January, His Honour
announced that new books for aboriginal youth in the fly-in communities of the
Nishnawbe Aski Nation would be collected at OPP detachments across the
province and Toronto Police Service divisions. To date over 15,000 books have
been donated.
