Media advisory - Kingston rallies for KGH - is Gerretsen listening?

Rally for health care democracy slated for noon, Monday, July 7

KINGSTON, ON, July 4 /CNW Telbec/ - Kingston citizens will take their
concerns about the future of Kingston General Hospital to MPP John Gerretsen's
Kingston office on Monday, July 7.
The battle for health care democracy - and whether communities are able
to fend off cuts to services mandated by the provincial government's Local
Health Integration Networks (LHINs) - escalated last week when KGH CEO Joe de
Mora was fired after refusing to cut services in the face of insufficient
provincial funding.
Local control over health services is in increasing jeopardy as the
province restructures services through its LHINs regime. De Mora's dismissal
sends a clear message to the other 80 Ontario hospitals running deficits: Keep
quiet and cut services.
Community members are vowing to pressure Mr. Gerretsen to clearly state
what he is going to do to protect local hospital services in Kingston:

WHAT: Rally for community control of KGH
WHERE: Outside John Gerretsen's office, 303 Bagot Street, Kingston
WHEN: Monday, July 7, 12:00 noon

Local Health Integration Networks are putting more and more hospitals
under supervision because they are refusing to cut services. The good news is
that communities are fighting back.
