Media Advisory - Jewish Community Rallies for People of Israel

TORONTO, Jan. 2 /CNW/ - A rally to show support for the people of Israel
will take place on Thursday, January 8th at Beth Tzedec Synagogue (1700
Bathurst St.) in Toronto. The rally is part of a national initiative to show
support for those living in Israel's southern region, who, for the past 8
years, have been paralyzed by thousands of Hamas missiles from Gaza. Rallies
across the country will take place on the same night in Vancouver, Winnipeg,
Calgary, Ottawa and Montreal.
In 2008, the region was struck by close to 3000 missiles. Close to a
million Israelis live in the range of missiles now being fired from Gaza.
The rally in Toronto is organized by UJA Federation of Greater Toronto,
CIJA (Canadian Council for Israel and Jewish Advocacy), Canadian Jewish
Congress Ontario Region, Canada Israel Committee and CJPAC (Canadian Jewish
Political Affairs Committee).
