TORONTO, Nov. 12 /CNW/ - If you think that the world of insurance and
risk management is dull, you haven't heard Mark Yakabuski, the new President &
CEO of Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC), speak about it. In his address,
"Insurance in a Climate of Change: Protecting Canadians in an Uncertain
Future", Mr. Yakabuski will discuss how insurance is responding to increasing
risk in the world.
Addressing emerging global threats such as severe weather linked to
climate change and the spectre of terrorism, Mr. Yakabuski will outline how
excessive regulation hinders the industry's ability to respond to the future
needs of Canadians. He will also identify the key public policy challenges of
the insurance industry, making the case for modernized regulation that
recognizes insurers' need for flexibility in a climate of rapid change.
In his first public address as President & CEO of IBC, Mr. Yakabuski will
speak to the Economic Club of Toronto at the Sheraton Centre Hotel, 123 Queen
Street West, Civic Ballroom, on Wednesday, November 14, 2007. Lunch will be
served at 12 noon and Mr. Yakabuski will begin his 30-minute address at 12:50
pm. Media are invited to attend.
