Media Advisory - Historic Gathering of Students in Toronto This Weekend



    TORONTO, Sept. 26 /CNW/ - An historic gathering of students is taking
place at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus Friday, September 26 and
Saturday September 27, 2008. The first-ever Ontario Campus Activist Assembly
is bringing together more than 400 students from over 30 campuses across
Ontario. Coordinated by the Canadian Federation of Students-Ontario, the
Assembly features skills- and issues-based workshops on a variety of issues.
The Assembly will be book-ended by Keynote addresses. The first, on Friday
night will feature Carolyn Egan, Lee Maracle and Elizabeth Carlyle. The
second, on Saturday night at 5:45 features Linda McQuaig and the third, on
Saturday night at 8:00 features John Ralston Saul.
    The aim of the conference will be to examine students' role in ongoing
campaigns against tuition fee increases, student debt, racism, homophobia, to
name a few.
