Media advisory - Heading West



    VALCARTIER GARRISON, QC, April 24 /CNW Telbec/ - Media representatives
are invited to Valcartier on Wednesday, April 25, at 7:45 A.M., to witness the
departure of about 200 soldiers leaving for Wainwright (Alberta).
    The military personnel will then head out to the Canadian Manoeuvre
Training Center, located at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright. From April 20 to
June 1, they will take part in a last extensive exercise before being deployed
to Afghanistan in August 2007.
    During this training, soldiers will take part in various scenarios,
including convoy escort, tasks relating to support duties, as well as combat
and security operations. For instance, they will carry out live firing using
infantry, armored, and artillery weapons, by day and night.

    Media representatives who want to cover the departure of the soldiers
must be at the front gate of the Valcartier Garrison on April 25, at 7:30 a.m.
