WINNIPEG, July 13 /CNW Telbec/ - Speaking in Winnipeg today, the National
President of Canada's largest union says the Canadian Union of Public
Employees will take measures to fight closures of flight attendants bases
announced by Air Canada in Halifax and Winnipeg. Paul Moist will meet with
CUPE Air Canada members and others in Halifax on Monday, July 14 at 1:00 p.m.
Paul Moist promised CUPE flight attendants affected by the cuts that
their union will pull out all stops in countering last week's Air Canada
announcement of closures that will cause significant economic hardship and job
losses to two of Canada's largest urban centres.
What: Media Conference and rally for Public Airline Services and a
reversal of cuts.
Where: Halifax, Nova Scotia, Hilton Garden Inn at Halifax Airport.
Who: Paul Moist, CUPE national president will join Lisa Vivian Anthony,
Air Canada CUPE local president, representatives of CUPE Nova
Scotia and local and provincial politicians including area NDP MP
Peter Stoffer in condemning the cuts and demanding action from all
levels of government. Moist will announce some of the strategies
CUPE will undertake.
