WHAT: Update on plans to rebuild the Goodwill Community Store at
4795 Dundas St. W. at Islington, in Etobicoke,
which was destroyed by fire Sunday, October 28, 2007

WHO: Dr. Ken Connelly, President and CEO of Goodwill
Mitzie Hunter, Vice President of External Relations,
WHY: To update the community and media on Goodwill's plans to
rebuild its Community Store in Etobicoke. Through monetary
donations and donated goods, Goodwill creates work
opportunities and skills development for people facing
serious barriers to employment in the Etobicoke community.
RBC Royal Bank has kick-started the rebuilding initiative
with a $10,000 contribution from RBC Foundation.
Photo Op: Mitzie Hunter will be available for comments, interviews and
photos at the Temporary Mobile Donation Centre on site.
Donors and customers will also be on site.
Since 1935, Goodwill's mission is to create work opportunities and skills
development for people facing serious barriers to employment, including
persons with disabilities, youth at risk, the chronically unemployed,
Aboriginal people and newcomers to Canada. Our Community Stores sell a wide
variety of donated goods, the revenues from which create jobs at Goodwill,
giving people much-needed paid work experience.
