OTTAWA, Feb. 11 /CNW Telbec/ - Former Prime Minister Joe Clark will
deliver the keynote address at the Rideau Institute's Second Annual Gala
Dinner on February 12, 2009, in Ottawa. "Shaping the Future: Canadian Foreign
Policy in the Age of Obama" is the title of Mr. Clark's speech, delivered a
week before President Obama's visit to Canada.
The Right Honourable Joe Clark was elected eight times to the House of
Commons, and served in Parliament for 25 years, retiring in June 2004. He was
Prime Minister from 1979 to 80, Secretary of State for External Affairs
(Foreign Minister) from 1984 to 1991, Minister of Constitutional Affairs from
1991 to 1993, and Acting Minister of both National Defence and Justice. He
served twice as Leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition, and as National
Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada.
The Rideau Institute is an independent research, advocacy and consulting
group based in Ottawa. It was founded in January 2007 and concentrates on
issues relating to foreign and defence policies.
