Online press conference on Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. EST:
Maytree Foundation to release Peter Showler's latest report "Fast, Fair
and Final: Reforming Canada's Refugee System."
TORONTO, Sept. 8 /CNW/ - Canada must reform its asylum system. Decisions
are not made in a timely manner and as a result there are thousands of refused
claimants in limbo. The delays hurt legitimate refugees, attract fraudulent
claimants and rob Canada of the credibility it needs to protect individuals
who are escaping violence, torture or death.
Join us for an online webcast with Peter Showler who puts forward a
proposal which will reduce the claim process from several years to 12-18
months, ensure accurate and fair decisions, and result in the timely removal
of failed claimants.
