OTTAWA, Nov. 26 /CNW Telbec/ - Leaders of Canada's multi-faith
communities and the Canadian Forces Chaplain Branch will participate in a
Blessing Ceremony for the new Beechwood National Memorial Centre at Beechwood
Cemetery in Ottawa this week. This ceremony will highlight the sacred nature
of the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, which has been designed as a place
for memorialization and commemoration for Canadians of all faiths and walks of
The blessing of a Hall of Colours will also be part of the ceremony. The
Beechwood Cemetery Foundation has invited Chaplain General Stanley Johnstone
of the Canadian Forces to bless this room and a stained glass window donated
by the Canadian Military Chaplains' Association in memory of military
chaplains, past and present. Two Canadian Army regiments -The Royal Canadian
Regiment, Canada's senior Regular Force Infantry Regiment, and The Royal 22nd
Regiment - will lay-up their regimental colours in the Hall of Colours.
This event offers a preview of the new Beechwood National Memorial Centre
that will be officially opened in April 2008.
