TORONTO, Aug. 25 /CNW/ - At 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, the
Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) will release
provincial-level student achievement results on the 2008-2009 Assessments of
Reading, Writing and Mathematics, Primary Division (Grades 1-3) and Junior
Division (Grades 4-6), and the Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics. Highlights
of these results will be posted on EQAO's Web site, www.eqao.com, along with
an overview of student achievement by subgroup (e.g., by gender, or by English
language learner or special education need status).
On the same day, EQAO will also publish an analysis that tracks the
achievement of students as they moved from Grade 3 to Grade 6 and Grade 6 to
The 2009 test booklets, as well as the answer keys and samples of written
student responses at each performance level, will also be available on the Web
site to give the public a chance to see the types of skills Ontario students
are expected to demonstrate on the assessments.
On September 17, 2009, EQAO will release individual school and board
reports and the full Provincial Report, 2008-2009, for the primary and junior
divisions and Grade 9, including subgroup and contextual data, a summary of
findings, strategies for success and profiles of successful schools. Schools
and boards will have their results under embargo until that date. They will be
able to speak about their results as of September 17.
