Media Advisory - EQAO to release assessment results for every school and six questions every parent or guardian should be asking



    TORONTO, Sept. 16 /CNW/ - At 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2008,
the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) will release student
achievement results for every publicly funded school and school board for the
2007-2008 Assessments of Reading, Writing and Mathematics, Primary Division
(Grades 1-3) and Junior Division (Grades 4-6), and the Grade 9 Assessment of
Mathematics. Schools and boards will be able to speak about their results at
this time.
    At that time, EQAO will also release six questions every parent or
guardian should be asking when looking at their school's results.
    EQAO will also release its full report entitled Ontario Student
Achievement: EQAO's Provincial Report on the Results of the 2007-2008
Assessments of Reading, Writing and Mathematics, Primary Division (Grades 1-3)
and Junior Division (Grades 4-6), and the Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics:
English-Language Schools. The report includes subgroup and contextual data, a
summary of findings, strategies for success and profiles of successful
schools.
    The Provincial Report and school, board and provincial results and the
six questions for parents and guardians will be posted on EQAO's Web site,
www.eqao.com.
