Media Advisory - Education Quality and Accountability Office to Release Highlights of Ontario Students' Results on International Science, Reading and Mathematics Assessment



    TORONTO, Dec. 3 /CNW/ - At 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2007, the
Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) will release Programme for
International Student Assessment (PISA), 2006: Highlights of Ontario Results.
    PISA is an international program initiated by the Organisation for
Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and undertaken every three years
to assess the achievement of 15-year-old students in reading, mathematics and
science.
    A total of 57 countries participated in the 2006 administration of PISA.
In Canada, about 22 000 15-year-old students from 10 provinces participated,
of which 2928 were from Ontario.
    Highlights of the provincial results will be available on EQAO's Web
site, www.eqao.com, as of 11:00 a.m. on December 4.
