    NEWMARKET, ON, Aug. 25 /CNW/ - Follow the rhythms of an African adventure
as Fairy Lake in Newmarket is turned into an African marketplace. The Echoes
of Africa is a cultural-festival that will feature a community-drumming
circle, jazz, and acapella music along with a theatrical performance by
well-known performers. Experience the sights and sounds of an African
marketplace featuring African arts and crafts.

    WHEN:     Saturday, August 29 from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

    WHERE:    Fairy Lake Park, 500 Water Street, Newmarket, ON

    WHY:      The Canadian and Africa Business Women's Alliance through a
              funding agreement with The Ontario Trillium Foundation
              organized an African arts and cultural festival. Along with
              providing training to 200 low income and immigrant women in the
              Halton-Peel and Simcoe-York regions participants are able to
              further develop their organization, communication and marketing
              skills by helping to organize the festival. They also have an
              opportunity to launch their business idea and showcase their
              products or services to the public at this event. The key
              objectives of the festival are to help celebrate the success
              stories of Africa, economic development and promote cultural
              literacy, by exposing the attendees to the art, drama, music,
              dance and culture of Africa.
