WHAT: Mr. David Hoey, the Secretary General of WorldSkills
International, will be visiting Calgary during the week of
March 3rd meeting with officials from WorldSkills Calgary 2009
In 18 months, the 40th WorldSkills Competition will take place
at Stampede Park from September 1 - 6, 2009. David Hoey will
meet with the organizing committee staff and suppliers to
discuss plans for hosting the Competition. Lessons learned from
the 2007 Worlds in Japan will be discussed as well there will
be a preliminary review of plans for the Calgary event.

DETAILS: Every two years, 900 competitors from 50 member countries
gather to compete at the WorldSkills Competition. The
Competition sets world class standards in 48 skill categories
ranging from welding to cooking, autobody repair to landscape
gardening, plumbing to web design. The Competition venue is
Stampede Park. The competitors will be housed at a
Competitors' Village located at SAIT Polytechnic.
