Media Advisory - Cross-Canada BBQ celebrates summer feeding program

Feeding Our Future provides over 100,000 lunches for children in 8 cities
    this summer

    TORONTO, July 16 /CNW/ -

WHAT: On Thursday, July 17th, thousands of children across the country
will attend barbeques to celebrate a program that provides free
lunches for them throughout the summer months.

WHY: Most of the children, who receive free or subsidized lunches
during the school year, were going hungry during the summer
months. This program ensures that children are receiving at least
one healthy meal a day throughout July and August.

WHO: The Sodexho Foundation is the sponsor of Feeding Our Future,
providing the food and the volunteers to make over 100,000 lunches
across Canada. Their partner in Toronto is Second Harvest, which
picks up and delivers the lunches to the summer camps.
The Geoffrey H. Woods Foundation has provided additional funding
           to Second Harvest in Toronto.

The National Spokesperson for the program is Chef Michael Smith
(Chef at Large), who will be attending the BBQ in Toronto.

WHERE: In Toronto, the BBQ will be at Riverdale Park (just west of
           Riverdale Farm).

RAIN PLAN: If it's raining, the BBQ will be held at
Gerrard Kiwanis Kids Club, at 101 Spruce Street. Call Abby at
           416-315-5280 to confirm location.

    WHEN: Thursday, July 17th, from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
