Media Advisory - Continuation of work on the Mercier Bridge - Southbound lane closure continues from August 25 to 29, 2008

LONGUEUIL, QC, Aug. 22 /CNW Telbec/ - The Jacques Cartier and Champlain
Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) and the Ministère des Transports du Québec (MTQ)
will continue to close a southbound lane on the Honoré-Mercier Bridge form
Monday to Friday, August 25 to 29, outside of rush hour periods, from 3 am
until noon. This closure will allow the contractor, the Mohawk Bridge
Consortium (MBC), to continue repairing connection plates.
In all, nearly fifty plates will be repaired by the MBC during this first
phase. These connection plates link the steel girders under the bridge and
their repair will strengthen its structure. This work will be done under the
bridge structure and will not be apparent to users. However, this operation is
essential to the bridge repair work and replacement of the deck.
