Media Advisory - Construction Safety Association of BC Announces Winner of Workplace Safety Contest

VANCOUVER, Feb. 25 /CNW/ - The winner of an innovative online contest
aimed at increasing awareness of construction workplace safety will be
announced on Friday, February 27th - and the lucky Coquitlam entrant will
drive away in a 2009 Toyota Tundra Truck courtesy of the Toyota BC Dealers
Association. A collaborative effort by industry partners, the contest proved
to be a great way to reach construction workers across British Columbia with
the information they need to stay safe in the workplace.

WHAT: In September 2008, the Construction Safety Association of BC
(CSABC) partnered with the Toyota BC Dealers Association and
BC Construction Association (BCCA) to offer an exclusive, online
contest. Designed to test the construction industry's safety
knowledge through WorkSafeBC Toolbox Talks, the contest attracted
4,700 contestants from across the province, with a total of 77,810
entries. The lucky winner - a member of BC's construction industry
    - will be announced at the February 27th event.

WHEN: Friday, February 27, 2009 (arrival at 11:45 am)
Presentation to Winner: Noon - 12:15 pm
WHERE: Delta Victoria Ocean Point Hotel (Balfour Ballroom)
           45 Songhees Road,Victoria, BC

WHY: The construction industry has been identified by WorkSafeBC as
having a greater risk of injuries and fatalities than other
industry sectors. While hundreds of accidents and injuries occur
each year, many could be prevented through safety knowledge
awareness and training. For CSABC and their partners, the Toyota
BC Dealers Association and BCCA, the contest proved to be an
effective way to bring home the message about staying safe in the
workplace to construction workers across BC. WorkSafeBC Toolbox
Talks provides workers with on-site safety education and
encourages positive, interactive discussion of their safety issues
    and concerns.

WHO: The winner and various spokespeople will be available for media
    interviews.
