PICKERING, ON, Dec. 27 /CNW/ - On January 1, 2008, Mayor Dave Ryan and
the Members of Council will throw open the doors of City Hall to welcome
hundreds of residents and celebrate the new year with traditional flare at the
2008 City of Pickering Mayor's New Year's Day Levee.
While the historical origins of the Levee trace back to the 17th century,
the 2008 City of Pickering Mayor's New Year's Day Levee will have a 21st
century twist. After exchanging greetings with Mayor Ryan and the Members of
Council, well wishers are invited to stay and enjoy the Balloon Twistology
show in the Council Chambers - featuring black lights, high energy music and
seriously twisted balloon antics.
In addition to the family entertainment in the Council Chambers, the
lobby area offers plenty of seating to enjoy free refreshments and live
entertainment provided by the Ragweed Jazz Band. To conclude the event, the
much-anticipated grand prize draw will be held to give away a Nintendo Wii
console, iPod and digital camera.
