Media Advisory - Child safety experts available for comment - Safer Internet Day



    CALGARY, Feb. 12 /CNW/ - Officials from the Canadian Centre for Child
Protection and Cybertip.ca are available to comment to the media on steps to
take to safeguard children and prevent their victimization on the Internet and
in the community.

    The Canadian Centre for Child Protection is a national, charitable
organization dedicated to the personal safety of all children. Key programs
include Cybertip.ca, which has received nearly 25,000 reports from Canadians,
and Kids in the Know, which is being delivered in schools across Canada. For

    Cybertip.ca is Canada's national tipline for reporting the online sexual
exploitation of children. The tipline is owned and operated by the Canadian
Centre for Child Protection. As of January 2008, reports to the tipline had
resulted in 30 arrests and the removal of nearly 2,800 websites from the
Internet.
