TORONTO, Aug. 27 /CNW/ - Two conferences will be held concurrently under
one roof in Toronto by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA).
They are the 11th annual Financial Reporting and Accounting Conference and the
3rd annual Public Sector Financial Reporting Conference. This combined event
is one of the most respected and attended conferences of its kind in Canada.
The Financial Reporting and Accounting Conference features authoritative
updates on the rapidly changing and evolving world of financial accounting and
reporting. One topic receiving extensive coverage is Canada's transition to
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Preparations have begun in Canada for the changeover to IFRS. Businesses
increasingly make decisions in a global context and the move to international
standards will place Canada on the same reporting playing field as more than
100 other countries, including the U.K. and Australia.
The Public Sector Financial Reporting Conference provides timely and
relevant updates on the issues facing the Canadian public sector both today
and tomorrow. One session of note involves a panel discussion on the topic of
challenges and opportunities in the public understandability of government
