QUEBEC, Jan. 15 /CNW Telbec/ - Representatives of the media are invited
to attend a Change of Command ceremony at Canadian Forces Fleet School Québec.
The event will take place on Friday, January 16, 2009, at 10:15 a.m., at 170
Dalhousie St. (by the Agora in the Old Port of Québec).
Interested media will be expected by 10 a.m. Commodore Jennifer Bennett,
Commander Naval Reserve, will be the Reviewing Officer for the ceremony,
expected to end at about 11:30 a.m. The outgoing Commandant, Commander Réal
Brisson, and the incoming Commandant, Commander David Trudeau, will be
available for interviews after the ceremony.
Canadian Forces Fleet School Québec is the only training establishment of
the Canadian Navy whose activities are geared mainly towards Reservists. The
School welcomes some 600 students each year. Its mission is to train Canadian
Forces personnel to provide trained and professional individuals to accomplish
their tasks in the Canadian Navy and Forces. Its main activities are trade
training aimed at the operation of the Maritime Coastal Defence vessels. The
school is also the Centre of Excellence for distance learning for the Navy.
Many programmes are also taught, including Professional Development for
military personnel, Naval Mine Warfare training, Naval Intelligence, as well
as several specialized courses targeted for the operation of the 24 Naval
Reserve Divisions across Canada.
