Media Advisory - CAW to Picket in Support of Striking Cision Workers in Toronto Today



    TORONTO, June 30 /CNW/ - CAW members along with other labour and
community activists will stage a picket on the steps of Cision Canada
headquarters in Toronto at 12:30 p.m. today in support of striking CAW Local
567 members who work for Cision in Ottawa.

    The solidarity picket is the latest in a string of worker-led
demonstrations protesting major contract concessions demanded by the employer
including eliminating COLA payments, significantly reducing severance
provisions, weakening seniority rights and introducing unspecified production
quotas, among others.
    CAW Local 567 members at Cision provide public media services, including
transcriptions, newspaper scanning as well as news audio and video clips.
    Representatives of the CAW Local 567/Cision Bargaining Committee will
also be trekking from Ottawa to participate in the demonstration.
    The workers have been on strike since May 5.
