TORONTO, Sept. 4 /CNW/ - Delegates representing CAW members across the
country will converge in Toronto on Saturday, September 6 to elect a new
CAW National President Buzz Hargrove, who announced his retirement on
July 8, will step down as of September 6, 2008 when the new leader is elected.
Hargrove will give his final speech as national president at approximately
10 a.m. to be followed by an inaugural speech by the new president.
At a July meeting of the CAW's National Executive Board (the union's
rank-and-file governing body), CAW Local 444 President and CAW Council
President Ken Lewenza was unanimously endorsed as a presidential candidate by
Hargrove, CAW National Secretary-Treasurer Jim O'Neil and the NEB. Since then,
no other members have declared their candidacy.

There will be a press conference immediately following the convention,
tentatively set for 1 p.m. in Room 801A on the convention floor level. Members
