Media advisory - Canada's municipal leaders meet March 5 - 8 in Brandon, Man.



    OTTAWA, March 4 /CNW Telbec/ - The National Board of Directors of the
Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) will meet March 5 - 8 in Brandon,
Man.
    More than 70 municipal leaders from across the country will meet to set
FCM policy and discuss next steps in working with the federal government on a
range of issues, including a long-term plan to erase the municipal
infrastructure deficit. Board and committee meetings are closed but interviews
may be arranged.
    A highlight of the meeting will be the signing on March 7 of a Memorandum
of Understanding between FCM, represented by FCM President Gord Steeves of
Winnipeg, and the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans, represented by
the Hon. Vic Toews, Member of Parliament for Provencher, Man ., and President
of the Treasury Board of Canada.
    Details of the signing ceremony, which will be open to news media, will
be distributed via Canada NewsWire on March 5.
