Media Advisory - Canada's leading scientists reveal cutting edge research at the 5th Science Centre World Congress

    WHAT:     "Frontiers of Science" Plenary Session
              Lead Sponsor: Ministry of Research and Innovation
              Plenary Sponsor: Natural Sciences and Engineering Research
              Council of Canada (NSERC)

              The final morning of the Congress will feature a two-part
              plenary session. Some of Canada's leading researchers and
              scientists, selected by NSERC and the Ontario Ministry of
              Research and Innovation, will speak to delegates about their
              cutting edge research and what the future holds. It will be
              introduced by. Dr. Suzanne Fortier, President, NSERC.

              In the second session, Dr. Pelle Persson of Heureka (Finland)
              will convene a panel of science centre CEOs to speak to the
              challenges faced by science centres and museums in responding
              to current research and bringing it to the public.

    About the 5th World Science Centre Congress

    The Ontario Science Centre is hosting the 5th Science Centre World
Congress www.5scwc.org) from June 15 to 19, 2008 at the Metro Toronto
Convention Centre. Themed Science Centres as Agents of Change-Locally,
Nationally and Internationally, this is the first time the congress is being
held in North America. This triennial international event brings together CEOs
and senior decision makers from the world's leading science centres to discuss
issues and opportunities in the field, and the central role science
organizations play in increasing the public's engagement with science.
