Media Advisory - Canada Student Loan Debt To Pass $13 Billion



    OTTAWA, Jan. 20 /CNW Telbec/ - For the first time in Canadian history,
total Canada Student Loan debt will surpass $13 billion on Wednesday, January
21. Representatives of the Canadian Federation of Students will make a
statement in response to the deepening student loan debt crisis.
    In the past fifteen years, federal spending cuts have caused tuition fees
to rise four times faster than the rate of inflation. Total Canada Student
Loan debt is increasing faster than $1.2 million a day, a number that does not
include provincial student debt or private debt.
