Media Advisory - Calgary Flames face off against Townsend Tigers!

CALGARY, Nov. 20 /CNW/ - In their 26th attempt to beat the formidable
Townsend Tigers, the Calgary Flames will suit up at the new Alberta Children's
Hospital on Wednesday, November 21 at 1:30pm.
The media are invited to attend the annual wheelchair hockey game which
will take place on the lower level of the new hospital in the Ed Whalen
Memorial Gym. On Wednesday afternoon's roster, there will be 18 Townsend
Tigers including the likes of Ninja J, Little AK, Flash and The Rocket. The
Calgary Flames are bringing out the big guns, including Jarome Iginla, Dion
Phaneuf and Matthew Lombardi.
The Calgary Flames are the only NHL team in Canada with an annual
wheelchair hockey game hosted by a children's hospital. The Flames vs Tigers
tradition began in 1981, with Flames still struggling to upset the undefeated
Townsend Tigers.
Of course, "off the ice", the Flames continue to be winners with the
Alberta Children's Hospital. The Flames Foundation for Life and the Rotary
Club have teamed up to donate $2.5 Million to help build Alberta's first
hospice and respite care facility for children. Rotary/Flames House will help
hundreds of families needing specialized help for their very sick and
terminally ill children.
The Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation raises funds for excellence in
child health and family centred care. Through the generosity of donors, the
Foundation provides funding for innovative programs, state of the art
equipment, advanced medical training and internationally recognized pediatric
research.
