Media Advisory - Buyout Industry, KKR Worldwide Focus of July 17 Actions by Workers to "Take Back the Economy"

Protest in Toronto will take on the buyout industry at Yonge and Eglinton

TORONTO, July 15 /CNW/ - On Jul. 17, 2008 in cities from Tokyo to Paris,
and New York to Menlo Park, SEIU members will be joined by MoveOn and Avazz,
and activists from 25 countries to take aim at the special perks and tax
loopholes that buyout firms depend on to make billions.
As the economy has worsened, the buyout industry's high-risk business
model and use of lucrative tax breaks that bleed money from state and federal
treasuries are facing backlash from voters and elected leaders worldwide.
Denmark and UK have already passed legislation to close tax loopholes that
favor the buyout industry, and the EU, Germany, the Netherlands and the US are
considering their own proposals to do the same.
For a complete list of actions or more information about the campaign
please go to www.july17action.org.
Here in Toronto there will be an open air sketch performed at Eglinton
and Yonge steps from Toys R Us one of the companies that KKR has bought out.
The play is based on the classic story of The Three Little Pigs.
