Media Advisory - Bob Rae Speaks Out on Imminent Deportation of Iraq War Resister Jeremy Hinzman

TORONTO, Sept. 17 /CNW/ - With only a week remaining before U.S. Iraq war
resister Jeremy Hinzman and his family face deportation from Canada, Liberal
Foreign Affairs critic Bob Rae will speak at a media conference to urge the
Harper government to stop the deportation of Hinzman and his family to the
United States.
Jeremy Hinzman will also speak at the press conference.
Hinzman, his wife Nga Nguyen and their children - 6-year-old Liam and
6-week old Meghan - have been ordered to leave Canada by September 23 or face
deportation. If sent back to the U.S., Hinzman faces imprisonment and a
criminal record. The family came to Canada in 2004 after Hinzman's attempts to
gain Conscientious Objector status in the U.S. Army were turned down.
