Media Advisory - Are we doing enough? Canadian Paediatric Society releases status report on child and youth health legislation in Canada



    MONTREAL, June 26 /CNW Telbec/ - The Canadian Paediatric Society is
releasing a status report on public policy across the country and how it
affects children and youth. The report looks at how effectively Canada's
provinces and territories are using their legislative powers to promote the
health and safety of children and youth in four major areas: disease
prevention, health promotion, injury prevention, and the best interests of
children and youth. It examines changes in provincial and territorial policy
since the release of the initial report in 2005, rates provinces and
territories on 12 separate issues, and also includes an assessment of selected
federal policies and programs.
    The results of the report- Are We Doing Enough? A status report on
Canadian public policy and child and youth health -will be presented during a
news conference in Montreal on Thursday, June 28. Speaking at the event will
be Dr. Robert Issenman, CPS President, Dr. Gary Pekeles, President-Elect and
Dr. Andrew Lynk, Chair of the CPS Action Committee for Children & Teens.
Dr. Denis Leduc, CPS Past President and paediatrician in Montreal, will be
emcee and provide remarks in French. Spokespeople from each province are also
available for interviews.
