Media Advirosy - Panel to address federal underfunding of university research at CAUT's national council meeting in Ottawa Thursday, April 23



    OTTAWA, April 20 /CNW Telbec/ - Three of Canada's top researchers in the
health, natural and social sciences will speak about the impact of federal
funding provisions on university research in Canada at the Canadian
Association of University Teachers' national council meeting this week.
    The plenary panel discussion will begin at 2:30 p.m. this Thursday, April
23, 2009 in the Adam Room at the Chateau Laurier Hotel and feature:

    
    - W.R. Peltier, University Professor and Professor of Physics, and
      Director of the Centre for Climate Change Studies at the University of
      Toronto;
    - Ryan T. McKay, Scientific Director of the National High Field Nuclear
      Magnetic Resonance Centre at the University of Alberta; and
    - Marjorie Griffin Cohen, Professor of Political Science at Simon Fraser
      University.
    

    CAUT's Council meeting, held twice a year, brings together more than 100
representatives of academic staff associations from across Canada.
