Mecachrome's recapitalization plan approved by its creditors

99.5% of the creditors in value approved the Plan

TOURS, France and MONTREAL, Canada, Aug. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - Mecachrome
International Inc. ("Mecachrome" or the "Company") announced today that, at
the creditors' meeting held yesterday in Montréal (Canada), its creditors
overwhelmingly approved the Company's proposed debt and capital restructuring
plan (the "Plan") pursuant to the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act and the
Canada Business Corporations Act filed on August 5, 2009. At the creditors'
meeting, 92.7% of all voting creditors, and 99.5% of the total amount voted by
all creditors, voted to accept the Plan. On September 1, 2009, the Company
will ask the Superior Court of Quebec to sanction the Plan.
"We are pleased that the Plan received such a strong endorsement from our
creditors," said Julio De Sousa, President and Chief Executive Officer of
Mecachrome "We believe that the Plan represents a fair and equitable outcome
for all the creditors involved. I want to especially acknowledge our employees
for their hard work, and our customers and suppliers for their continued
support and loyalty throughout this process."
The Plan remains subject to certain conditions set forth in the Company's
press release dated August 5, 2009. If these conditions are not satisfied
there can be no assurances that they will be waived or that alternate
financing will be available on acceptable terms. The Plan provides that the
Company's existing shares (multiple voting shares and subordinated voting
shares) will be cancelled for no consideration. The Company will advise as to
the progress of its French subsidiaries under the safeguard procedure
(procédure de sauvegarde) in France in due course.
