McGuinty's already gone negative

TORONTO, June 2 /CNW/ - NDP MPP Cheri DiNovo says Dalton McGuinty is
already the source of negative campaigning.
"Dalton McGuinty abandoned the high road quite a while ago," said DiNovo.
"McGuinty started the smear campaigns last year in Parkdale-High Park and he
kept at it this spring. Ontario families deserve better."
Last August during the provincial by-election in Parkdale-High Park, the
McGuinty Liberals launched a series of personal attacks on then-candidate
Cheri DiNovo. The Toronto Star called it a "smear campaign" and the Globe and
Mail described it as "one of the province's ugliest" electoral battles in
recent memory.
In recent weeks Dalton McGuinty launched a deliberate campaign to label
NDP Leader Howard Hampton and others as racists for raising questions about
the Liberals' year-end slush fund. The Globe and Mail quoted Liberal insiders
saying "the gloves are off".
"Sadly, after four years of broken promises and weak leadership the only
thing McGuinty has left is fear and smear," said DiNovo. "It won't work.
Working families aren't impressed with politicians who launch smear
campaigns - particularly against women."
