The Zoomer Rewards MasterCard credit card is the first and only credit
card in the market that offers Canadians exclusive Zoomer Rewards as well as
peace of mind by providing access to the Best Doctors program. Best Doctors
connects seriously ill Canadians and their treating physicians with renowned
specialists to confirm the right diagnosis and the right treatment plan
options. Customers can use the Zoomer Rewards MasterCard credit card for
everyday purchases such as groceries, gasoline and utility bill payments and
will receive an annual 1% cash back credit for all net retail purchases.
Customers are automatically enrolled in the Best Doctors program after the
first qualifying purchase on the card.
"In partnership with CARP and Best Doctors, we are aiming to provide an
invaluable product that meets the lifestyle and the changing demographic needs
of our customers," said Rod Pike, Business Development and Marketing
executive, MBNA. "We plan to add the Best Doctors service as a feature on some
of our other affinity and co-brand credit card programs, benefiting more
consumers who may face uncertainty in managing their medical conditions."
In February 2008, media innovator Moses Znaimer announced his new vision
of aging for Canada. He became the president of CARP, Canada's largest
association serving the needs and interests of the 14.5 million Canadians who
are 45 years old plus and he popularized the term "Zoomer." "Just about
everybody wants to live long, but nobody wants to be old. Old is not a
positive word. That's why I hit on this idea of Zoomer. You take the word
Boomer, add the concept of Zip!, and you get Zoomer," said Znaimer. Since
then, "Zoomer" has been swiftly adopted nationwide by the media and general
public, replacing terms like senior, elder, old and 50 plus, to describe the
demographic. In addition, Znaimer launched ZOOMER, a new lifestyle magazine
for men and women 45 years of age plus. CARP members receive ZOOMER magazine
nine times a year and it is also available on newsstands across the country.
