Maximum Films to distribute Fortissimo's titles in Canada
Fortissimo to represent Maximum's titles in Asia
TORONTO and HONG KONG, Sept. 6 /CNW Telbec/ - Toronto-based Maximum Films
and Amsterdam- and Hong Kong-based Fortissimo Films have agreed upon a unique
and exciting collaboration in which Maximum will distribute Fortissimo's films
in Canada and Fortissimo will represent the sale of Maximum's films in Asia,
Maximum Chairman Robert Lantos and Fortissimo Co-Chairman Michael J. Werner
jointly announced today.
Under the terms of the agreement, Maximum Film Distribution will acquire
the Canadian distribution rights to Fortissimo's available line-up for Canada
for the next two years. Fortissimo is known for handling a broad range of
top-drawer films from around the globe and the deal will give Maximum Films an
assured supply of festival and award-winning titles. The agreement covers a
number of Fortissimo titles being presented at the Toronto Film Festival,
including the Gala Presentation, BLOOD BROTHERS, Australia's UNFINISHED SKY,
Germany's LOVE COMES LATELY, and Israel's CHILDREN OF THE SUN, as well as
Julian Schnabel's rock opera concert film BERLIN. Fortissimo is currently
handling the international rights for Martin Scorsese's Rolling Stones
documentary SHINE A LIGHT, and has handled the international rights for SUPER
SIZE ME, SHORTBUS, and SNOW CAKE.
At the same time, Maximum Films International's films will be represented
and sold by Fortissimo in the Asian territories. Upcoming titles include the
2007 TIFF opener FUGITIVE PIECES, TIFF selections MY WINNIPEG and BEFORE THE
RAINS, and future productions such as Atom Egoyan's ADORATION, REAL TIME
starring Randy Quaid, and COLD SOULS starring Paul Giamatti.
