Margaret Trudeau launches CHECK UP FROM THE NECK UP

    May 2 - 10:30 a.m. at 6 Rose Hill Ave.

TORONTO, April 24 /CNW/ - Margaret Trudeau will launch this spring's Mood
Disorders Association of Ontario's Check Up from the Neck Up mental health
campaign. MDAO created the campaign, now going province wide, to help people
take control of their mental health.
Trudeau will tell her story, speaking about the need for early detection
of mental illnesses. Musician Amy Sky will speak about post-partum depression.
MDAO launched Check Up with support from Sunnybrook Health Sciences
Centre, the Ontario College of Family Physicians, the Ontario Psychological
Association, the Ontario Pharmacists' Association and major EAPs last year.
Now as part of the launch, Ontario's Psychological Association has members
willing to see people who have taken the Check Up within two weeks on a
sliding scale, based on ability to pay. Check Up first challenged 300,000 GTA
residents to visit http://www.checkupfromtheneckup.ca/ to take the
confidential online quiz. By fall, the site had almost two million hits.
All visitors to the site are directed to province-wide community
resources across the province and information about mood disorders.
