Margaret Trudeau endorses Check Up from the Neck Up

    MAY 2 - 10:30 a.m. at 6 Rosehill Ave.

TORONTO, April 30 /CNW/ - Margaret Trudeau will launch this spring's Mood
Disorders Association of Ontario's Check Up from the Neck Up mental health
campaign. MDAO created the campaign, now going province wide and bilingual, to
help people take control of their mental health.
Trudeau will speak about the need for early detection of mental illnesses
and the stigma people with mental illness face. Musician Amy Sky will speak
about post-partum depression. There will be a Q & A session afterward.
MDAO launched Check Up with the support of Sunnybrook Health Sciences
Centre, the Ontario College of Family Physicians, the Ontario Psychological
Association, the Ontario Pharmacists' Association and major EAPs last year.
Now for the launch Ontario's Psychological Association has members willing to
see people who take the Check Up within two weeks on a sliding scale or at
cost. Check Up first challenged 300,000 GTA residents to visit
http://www.checkupfromtheneckup.ca/. By fall, the site had almost two million
hits.
People take a confidential quiz, which directs them to community
resources.
