Mantis Mineral Corp. completes initial field examination on its 100% owned Orphan Gold Mine property

TORONTO, June 20 /CNW/ - Mineral Corp (CNQ - MINT) is pleased to announce
that an initial field examination, which included mapping of the exposed vein
system and a full compilation of historical data on its 100% owned Orphan Gold
Mine property has been completed. The Company is expecting the results of this
examination shortly.
Geologically, the former Orphan Gold Mine is situated in the
Onaman-Tashota greenstone belt of the Wabigooon subprovince of the Archean
superior province. Traditionally this belt was referred to as the
Beardmore-Geraldton greenstone belt/gold camp. Gold production from this belt
has exceeded 4.1-million ounces from 19-mines. The Orphan Gold Mine is
included as one of the past producers of this belt. During its operating
period between 1934 to 1935 a total of 2,460 ounces of gold and 1,558 ounces
of silver were extracted from 3,525 tons of ore mined, resulting in grade
averages of 0.70 ounces per ton gold and 0.44 ounces per ton silver. Mining
operations were suspended due to the economics of the time. The mine was
developed on two levels, the 150-level and 250-level, which were accessed by a
262-foot (80-meter) deep shaft. Lateral workings of cross-cuts and drifts
tolled 663-feet (202-meters).
The Orphan Gold Mine property consists of 9-patented claims totaling
144-hectares and 3-staked claims totaling 192-hectares. The property is within
the jurisdiction of the Thunder Bay Mining Division and geographically is
located in Rickaby Township, 15-kilometers northeast of the village of
Jellicoe.
Chairman and CEO, Robin Ross commented, "We are excited at having
acquired a quality property of this nature in an area known for previous gold
production."

Mantis Mineral Corp. is a Canadian exploration company with a portfolio
