Alternate mail delivery implemented for customers in Slave Lake, Canyon
Creek and Widewater
EDMONTON, May 18 /CNW/ - Canada Post would like to advise residents of
Northern Alberta that mail is now being dispatched to most Northern communities. Many roads and highways are now open allowing
Canada Post to safely transport mail into the area.
However, alternate mail delivery is being implemented for those
evacuated from Slave Lake, Canyon Creek, Widewater and some communities
North of Slave Lake who are still unable to return to their homes.
Effective Thursday, May 19th:
Those evacuated from communities North of Slave Lake can collect their
mail at the High Prairie post office, located at 4801, 52nd Avenue. Photo identification is required.
Customers from Slave Lake, Canyon Creek and Widewater who were evacuated
to Athabasca can collect their mail at the Athabasca post office
located at 4909, 49th Street. Photo identification is required.
Slave Lake, Canyon Creek and Widewater residents relocated to other
evacuation centres (Edmonton, Westlock, High Prairie, Wabasca, and
Peace River) can have their mail redirected to the main post office in
their temporary community. Evacuation centres and the post offices in
these communities have been provided with a unique change of address
form developed specifically for this emergency.
These are difficult times and Canada Post is working diligently to
reestablish regular mail delivery as soon as the situation improves.
