VANCOUVER, Oct. 2 /CNW/ - Maghreb Minerals PLC is an AIM-quoted
exploration company developing base metal and industrial mineral deposits in
North Africa. Global Minerals owns 12.9 million shares of Maghreb.
Drill hole MBJ6, at the past producing Bon Jabeur mine deposit shows
high-grade Zinc mineralization over a larger interval. Barium and fluorine
results from earlier drill holes in the series, MBJ2, to MBJ5, drilled by the
Company confirm the presence of high-grade barite and fluorite mineralization
associated with the high-grade lead-zinc assay intervals previously reported.

    Highlights

Drilling results from the MBJ6 provide verification of the previous
Office National des Mines ( "O.N.M.") drilling, with 42.2m grading 7.47% zinc
("Zn") and 0.7% lead ("Pb") which includes 18.9m grading 10.61% Zn and
0.8% Pb.
Barium and fluorine assays received to date for drill holes MBJ2 to MBJ5
confirm the presence of significant thicknesses of barite ("Ba") and fluorite
("F") mineralization in addition to the excellent zinc and lead assays
previously reported for these drill holes.

    Verification Results

    Drill hole MBJ6

The verification drilling programme (MBJ series) commenced in
Mid-March 2007, targeted at verifying past O.N.M. resource estimates and to
provide metallurgical samples for test work, which will form part of a
proposed pre-feasibility study. The latest zinc and lead results to be
received are for drill hole MBJ6, and the intersections are as follows:

Gordon Riddler, Executive Chairman of Maghreb Minerals PLC, Commented:

"The excellent zinc results from MBJ6, together with supporting strong
barite values associated with the high-grade zinc mineralization
intersected in MBJ1 to MBJ5 provide encouragement to our expectations of
establishing a significant zinc resource and substantial mining operation
at Bou Jabeur - Gite De l'Est".
