FLEXIBLE, INTEGRATED SOLUTIONS FOR FASTER THAN EVER PROTOTYPING AIMED AT
MIMO APPLICATIONS SUCH AS WI-FI (802.11N)
QUEBEC CITY, Oct. 11 /CNW/ - Lyrtech Inc. ("Lyrtech" or the "Company")
(TSX-V: LYT), a worldwide leader in digital signal processing ("DSP")
technologies with state of the art EMS facilities, announced today the launch
of its third generation of MIMO (Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output) solutions.
These solutions are the most scalable and integrated on the market, allowing
developers to prototype MIMO applications more quickly than ever before.
MIMO, which stands for multiple-input, multiple-output, refers mainly to
the use of several antennas at the transmitter and receiver to improve the
performance of radio communication systems. MIMO technology is rapidly gaining
ground in the field of wireless communications because it offers numerous
significant advantages such as increased data throughput and quality of
service without the need for additional bandwidth.
Lyrtech's third-generation multichannel, rapid prototyping solution is
better integrated to The MathWorks model-based design tools, and Lyrtech's own
software tools are specifically tuned for fast prototyping. The new solution
is also capable of a 1-GBps, bidirectional input-to-output digital throughput
owing to the combined DSP-FPGA processing engines, while the second-generation
MIMO solution was only capable of a 400-MBps, unidirectional throughput. The
solution is now capable of operating in the baseband or the intermediate
frequency (IF) range, and can also be equipped with a radio frequency (RF)
"This generation of MIMO solutions is our fastest-selling offering to
date," said Jean-Sébastien Bérubé, executive vice president of sales,
marketing, and customer services. "It is the only multichannel, rapid
prototyping solution on the market with this degree of software and hardware
integration, complete from baseband to radio frequency. Combined with the new
Quad Dual-Band RF Transceiver, this solution has the potential to become the
leading MIMO Wi-Fi development solution for developers all over the world. We
are extremely proud of what we've achieved here."
The previous generations of MIMO solutions generated revenues over
$1.5 million since 2005 and the Company expects the third generation of MIMO
solutions to increase significantly the revenue stream of the Company.
